Course – Care

Please take the time to care for the golf course, replace divots, fix ball marks, and rake or smooth bunkers.  There are no COVID restrictions relating to flagsticks or bunkers.

Pace of Play

The RMJGT Pace of Play Policy is in effect as detailed in the RMJGT tournament rules section of the RMJGT website.  The pace of play for this event is 4 hours 45 minutes.

Format
This is a stroke play event.  For all players, the competition consists of 4 rounds of 9 holes.

Scoring & Ties

All players must report to the scoring area (on patio or inside restaurant) without delay when their round is complete.   If a sudden death playoff is not feasible for first place ties, a scorecard playoff will be used following USGA recommended procedures.

Rulings - Resolving Rules Issues During Round:

When a Rules Referee is not available, you may decide play two golf balls under rule 20.1c(3).  Before playing either ball, you should announce which ball’s score you want to use, you must finish the hole with both balls, and you must report the facts at scoring.

LOCAL RULES / CONDITIONS OF NOTE

Out of Bounds (OB)

OB is identified and defined by the course side edge at ground level of white stakes, poles or stakes; protective, property or boundary fence posts; stone walls; property line (where no other boundary object exists) and the course side edge of sidewalks, or if no sidewalks, then roads; and the cart path to the right of hole 9 green.

Preferred Lies

If your ball is in a bunker or in the general area cut to fairway height or less (meaning in fairway or fringe), you may mark, lift, clean and place your ball within one club-length of your ball/s original lie no closer to the hole.  You may not take free relief from the general area that is cut to more than fairway height (meaning “rough”).

Ground Under Repair (GUR)

GUR is the area from which optional free relief is available, is defined by white lines, colored stakes with rope or colored flags or by specific identification.  GUR includes areas of unusual damage including area of cart traffic or seasonal conditions such as tire ruts that are  muddy or depressed in ground.  Areas of bare dirt, brown grass, unprepared sand, rocky soi, tree stumps and roots are not GUR. If your ball, intended swing or intended stance is interfered with by animal holes and cast material, whether flattened or not, you may take free relief.

Penalty Areas

Penalty Areas are identified by red stakes and by dense vegetation.   Dense vegetation consists of high grass, bushes, vines and trees growing closely together.  All Penalty Areas are red.  The edges of the Penalty Areas are defined by (in order of priority): (1) the mow line between the rough (grass) and the higher grass/reeds or dense vegetation; (2) the edge of the grass in the rough (not the higher natural grasses); or (3) where the ground falls towards water.  When a Penalty Area is defined only on one side, the Penalty Area extends to infinity.  When the other side of a Penalty Area is on the course, you may take equidistant penalty relief.  No dropping zones are provided.

Immovable Obstructions (IO)

IOs include cart paths including cement or rubber curbs (dirt, gravel or paved) and adjacent worn areas, landscaped areas tied into cart paths, hole monuments, buildings, utility boxes, drain grates, pipes, boulders, stone bench, water fountains and wooden/rock/stone walls or support for teeing areas.

Local Rules

  1. If your ball is within two club-lengths of an IO (for example a sprinkler head), if the IO is within two club-lengths of the putting green and if your line of play is interfered with by the IO, you may take free relief.
  2. If you drop your ball using back on the line relief and your ball rolls forward but comes to rest within one club-length of where it first touched the course, you have taken relief properly.
  3. If your ball played from the putting green accidentally hits you, your club used for the stroke or an animal defined as a loose impediment (worms, insects and similar animals that can be easily removed), your stroke counts and your ball must be played as it lies.
  4. If you significantly damage your club during your round, if not from your abuse, you may replace the club during your round.

Player Information - Age Divisions

A player’s age division is determined by his/her age during round two. A player can move up during the middle of the season. For example, if a player is 14 and starts the season in the 11-14 division, but then turns 15 during within the middle of the season will then play the remainder of the season from the 15-19 division. Points do not roll over to another division. Players can earn points in two age divisions.

In the event the Boys 10 and Under and/or Girls 10 and Under divisions have one player in the field, that player will be grouped with the rest of the 10U players, therefore boys and girls may be paired together and playing the same yardages.
